Well, I tried to sew today and had no patience for it. I’ve pretty much been sewing Christmas presents since August, and when trying to sew my nephew’s birthday present tonight I had no patience for it. I think next year I’ll have to tone it down a bit, although it will be hard because my spoken love language is a combination of gifts and quality time making them for my family. I made a total of 5 quilted wall hangings, 9 pairs of pajamas, 4 quilted coasters, 3 aprons, a baby jacket, 28 Christmas ornaments, 3 yarn Nativity wreaths, stamped 165 cards, helped a friend with a scrapbook, and probably made other stuff I forgot. Plus directed and sang with my choir and played for all the services. It was no wonder that Christmas day after church I pretty much crashed. The day after Christmas I woke up unable to talk, and today I still don’t have much of a voice. I’m glad I have this week to rest up before going back to teaching.
We began sponsoring a child soon after we were married. She was only a few months old then, she’s nearly 7 now and I just had to share this year’s Christmas card!

This time of year I love to walk around singing Christmas songs, although I usually alter the lyrics a bit as I only sing to my hubby. We were joking the other morning that I should really record them or something. Here’s a partial list of my altered lyrics (and original song):
* Here comes Seanniepants, here comes Seanniepants, right down Seanniepants lane… (Here Comes Santa Claus)
* Seannie the Snowman… (Frosty the Snowman)
* Seannie the Happy Hubby had a very happy home… (Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer)
* Oh, Seanniepants Oh Seanniepants, how lovely are thy britches… (O Christmas Tree)
* Seannie Baby, put a present under the tree for me… (Santa Baby)
* Seanniepants, Seanniepants, Seannie all the way… (Jingle Bells)
When I got my first car, Dad made sure I had jumper cables, a tool kit, flashlight, emergency candles, small shovel, and an ice cream pail full of kitty litter in the back every winter. Since being married, I’ve gotten lazy about that. Well, no more!
Monday night (or rather Tuesday morning) my hubby was driving home from work at 12:30 a.m. when the truck broke down. It was 11 degrees out, not including windchill, and my husband left in only a sweatshirt that morning. So with nothing but a cell phone, he called a tow truck and a friend of his. The tow truck took an hour to get there, his friend a half hour. My hubby stayed on the phone with me, freezing his cute little buns off until his friend arrived and let him warm up in his truck. We just got the truck back tonight, and decided that never again were we going to take the chance of getting stranded in the bitter cold without an emergency kit.
She’s so much like me. This is pretty much my Sept.-Dec.
