As much as I want to have my own, my brothers are nice enough to share theirs in the meantime. I’m leaving tonight for a two week stay in rural Montana with these nice folks. Can’t wait to see them!
The best Valentine an Auntie could get–Elijah Arnold was born this morning. I’ll get to see him on Saturday when I fly down south! Yay!!
I am feeling MUCH better today–still no voice and still coughing, but overall much better. What a week! I hope I don’t get that again too soon, whatever it was. Hubby got it for 24 hours and was pretty much over it. When I asked him why the virus seemed to miss him slam me he said, “I ducked!”
I made a lot of progress on the quilt, too. Between the few squares left to sew on the machine and the Grammy’s on Sunday to do the hem around the edge, I should be done by Monday with time to spare!
but on the upside, I lost 9 lbs since Friday! Probably water, mostly, and lack of appetite, but I’ll take it!
I managed to quilt a little today. Hopefully after a nap I’ll feel better. My sweet hubby went to the store to get me medicine:

oh, and this:

What: Thomas quilt that needs to get finished because a 3 year old nephew is expecting it and this Auntie does not want to disappoint the little guy!
Why: Procrastinated because I wasn’t quite sure how to quilt it, but after researching, now I know
Problem: I’m sick so I can’t work on it!
Yesterday I had a 102 fever and chills until about 3 a.m. this morning when I felt it break. I’m now down to a low grade fever but still coughing and my head is all stuffed up. I am on decongestants, cough medicine, Aleve for aches and pains, all of which keeps me pretty much a zombie. I know I need to quilt, but I can imagine waking up with a sewing needle through my nose because I fell asleep at the machine! The countdown is on…I leave in 11 days and better have a finished quilt on the plane with me!
I’ve managed to stay healthy this winter thus far, but I am really, really sick with a chest cold right now. In fact, I am so sick that without this I probably wouldn’t be able to breathe. It hurts to breathe, cough, pretty much exist right now. My hubby was over his symptoms in 24 hours. I’m going on 36 right now. But I have a quilt to get done so must muddle through!
Happy 32nd birthday to my hubby! In lieu of a cake, he ordered Key Lime Pie. I first tried to use a regular Key Lime Pie recipe substituting non dairy creamer for sweetened condensed milk, but it didn’t gel and instead became Key Lime Soup. Then my hubby found this recipe which is absolutely delicious! I noted my changes as well.
1 (12 1/3 ounce) package mori-nu firm silken tofu (I used store generic)
8 ounces soy cream cheese
1/2 cup key lime juice
2 teaspoons freshly grated lime rind
2 (4 ounce) packages mori-nu mates vanilla pudding mix (couldn’t find it, so I used the Jello vanilla pudding mix)
1 tablespoon liquid sweetener, to taste (I used honey which was yummy!)
1 (9 inch) baked pastry shells or graham cracker crust (I prefer graham)
1. Drain any excess water from the tofu.
2. Blend tofu and lime juice in electric mixer until creamy and smooth.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients (except crust!), and blend again until smooth.
4. Beat on high speed about 1-2 minutes. I added a little green food coloring for that lime look.
5. Pour the mixture into the crust and chill 2-3 hours or until firm.
