10. “Someone” is calling long distance from your phone, but you don’t know who.
9. You can afford a vacation to Hawaii but the roaming charges on your bill are totally unfair.
8. You only get 1200 minutes on your $1 phone and don’t want to pay the extra $300 in overage charges.
7. You just put your payment in the drop box, why isn’t your phone turned back on yet?
6. You were just talking to Kate or Kim or Kris, you can’t remember exactly, but I know who you’re talking about, right?
5. You were on hold forever with another dept., so you called again to a different queue hoping the wait time wouldn’t be as long. Even though I only process payments could I answer your cell phone questions without transfering you to a cell phone rep because the wait time is too long?
4. You just can’t understand why we would disconnect your phone when you haven’t paid a bill in 3 months.
3. Could I take off the late fees because you were out of state for six months and didn’t forward your mail?
2. Your account is 90 days past due, you can’t make a payment until sometime next week, but I better reconnect your phone NOW!!!!
1. You want to make a payment before the due date and yes, you would love the confirmation number and hope I have a great day.
Okay, my sister-in-law who had this job before me forgot to warn me about the “Gossip Pod.” I got stuck in there today until one of the podders showed me signs left over from when the aforesaid sister-in-law worked there. I know it’s a trap that I have to avoid.
Today went much better than yesterday. I learned a bunch more computer programs but my brain seemed to absorb more today than yesterday. Probably got all the cobwebs out. Today was actually fun because I got to do fun stuff like enter bill payments and fill out computer forms. The next best thing to playing the piano!
I meant to write this yesterday, but was pretty much wiped out when I got home from work.
Yes, work. My first day went pretty well. Hubby dropped me off at Human Resources to get all my paper work in order. It was then that I found out I wasn’t one of many new hires, I was one of three new hires and the only one who actually showed up. He walked me in and stayed with me a little bit even though I told him it wasn’t my first day of Kindergarten. He just hugged me and said, “Yes it is!” Even the HR person assured him I would be well taken care of.
After getting all my paperwork in order, I was walked over to my building and introduced to a bunch of people I will probably have to get introduced to again this morning. I was under the impression I’d have training or at least an introduction to what I was doing, mostly because that’s what I was told when I was interviewed. No such luck. I was thrown right in the mix. I had a crash course in several different programs, none of which I’m sure I can open and run right now. My cubbie mate went through the class training and was supposed to be shadowing another employee but instead she and the other three people in the same situation were thrown onto the phones right away. She’s thinking of quitting at the end of the week because she doesn’t know what she’s doing. Apparently they are so short-staffed right now they don’t have enough experienced reps to go around. What an interesting situation. I’m not too worried, though. I catch on quickly and have enough critical thinking skills to figure things out. Besides, my work this week pays off half our couch, and it will be so much more comfortable when it’s paid off!
Perhaps the best part about my first day of work was that my handsome hunk of a hubby was offered OT for the day shift, so I was able to eat lunch with him and see him after work. He was offered it today, too, so we’re both looking forward to our lunch date again. We decided when he switches to day shift we’re going to keep it up. It’s great for my diet! Besides eating only what I pack myself (vegetables and fruit with 1 serving of meat), I get a 20 minute walk at lunch! 10 min. to his building, 10 minutes back. Can’t ask for more than that! Plus the 10 min. walk back to his building to get the truck after work (this week and next week anyway).
I’m looking forward to today now that I know where I’m going and who I’m reporting to. I’ll keep you posted.
Just found out yesterday that I’m going to have another neice or nephew come February! That makes nine I get to spoil. How cool is that?
Monday I will be starting a full time job at the company where my husband works. I am excited because we will be able to pay off debts faster and hopefully adopt someday.
I have been scrapbooking my trip to Montana which has been lots of fun. Kids are always fun pictures to scrapbook!
